Title: Advantage of small wheels
Post by: Russell on 17 June, 2018, 11:16:16 am
Having decided not to sell my Dahon Mu SL, I am riding it again as number one son is taking my hack bike to the station for the next month.  I usually ride the hack, converted 80s ridgid mountain bike, or a tandem so the accelleration of the small wheels is pretty novel.  Individual surges twice every crank revolution - don't get that on a tandem!

You get a similar effect with very light 700c wheels.  Three decent pedal strokes in a medium gear, and you're up to cruising speed.
