Cycle glasses for aero bar position?

Having bought some Profile Design T2+ aerobars, and after a bit of building up to it, I'm able to hold an aero position for an hour at a time on the trainer and, apart from cornering, braking, etc, for the majority of the time on long rides.  Even the neck strain is barely noticeable after a flat 200.

One thing that is holding me back is finding sunglasses that don't restrict the vision - i.e. without a top bar that's exactly in the sight-line.  I wear contact RGP lenses that are extremely susceptible to dust, grit, flying beasties which can be extremely painful and at times quite dangerous.

The pros seem to wear aero helmets with visors which would solve the problem but that's not for me so I'm wondering is anyone has found protective glasses that don't restrict that part of your vision?

I use cheap clear and tinted safety glasses with one piece lenses. Bolles and suchlike for less than a tenner means I don't worry about scratches very much.

there is the Oakley EV Zero (think DuMoulin uses these) or there is the Oakley FlightJacket. There are prob other brands but a look at what tt riders use will prob give the best idea. Bolle have this which has a wide view

I've heard good things about Sun God Pacebreakers, quite similar to Oakley Radars, though a bit higher at the top, so may be better for a more aero riding position. They're also less than half the price...

Lots to choose from.  I'm favouring the SunGods's or the Ekoi's but unfortunately they are both custom orders so can't be returned (smart marketing  ).  Still a lot cheaper than the Oakley's and top-range Bolle's (but not the standard safety glasses which I may try first).

Hi toontra. Give Dennis Taylor a call and ask him where he got his snookers specs from !!
They were mad especially so that he could focus whilst down low when looking along the cue whilst playing snooker.

I'm on love with these. The pbotochromic lenses are good at night and on sunny days, and they're 'tall' enough to permit full vision on the tri bars. No silly rubber stuff to come loose either.

I've just come in from a workout on them looking like Stevie Wonder.

Do those planet X ones actually change from light to dark depending on sunlight?

I tried a pair of photochromatic from Evans, can't remember the brands but we're around £40 and they just didn't change but if the planet X ones do I might try some.

It's odd, on the 'outside' it doesn't look like they do change colour but looking through them at night I'd have no inkling I was wearing darkened specs. It's most strange.

Ah I'm afraid the photochromic ones will set you back 21 (there is disparity between the types of lenses).

I have some optilabs Rapide glasses with photochromatic lenses. They are great, and I can see just fine through them even when on the aero bars. I had to go with something prescription, which limited me a bit. The photo chromatic is great, they go from dark during the day to clear at night. No need to stop and change when the sun goes down.

Good recommendation re Optilabs.  I'm following this thread as I'm also looking for new prescription glasses for aero riding.   I spoke to Optilabs and they said their Rascal and Sabre models would be best for this.  I've ordered sample frames to test.  Will report back when I've got them.

My current glasses are not bad for an aero position but the lenses are very curved.  This means that they have a bit too much distortion (even though my prescription is not high: -2/-3) and they make it look like I am always riding uphill - especially at night when there is less other evidence to correct that view.  I mentioned this to the Optilabs guy and he reckoned they could avoid this happening.
