My mum bought some Mars bars, but they were big ones so I had to cut them in half. Only after I had cut them did I realize that the knife was covered in ... lemon curd?

Sweet & Sour works well in sorbet, Chinese food, pickled herrings, salads and duck a l'orange.

Maybe it works almost everywhere...

Homemade pasta sauce with pineapple chunks. Lovely. Honestly.

Black tea with apple juice (discovered when I had run out of milk...)

We went on a walking hol a few years ago and each day we were issued with lovely home-made packed lunches by the host & hostess. The first day's lunch included a sort of savoury flan with a very interesting combination of tastes. We were told in advance that there would be a prize for anyone who could identify the two strongest flavours.

It turned out to be mackerel and banana. It was really lovely!

Any recommendations as to the type of cheese and flavour of jam Mrs P?

I've got cheddar and blueberry, which doesn't sound promising...

I have been subjected to baked beans and banana by a friend; also tuna, pasta, and banana. He has a thing about bananas.

I too was going to say peanut butter and banana, sandwich wise that is. I have hazy memories from my CND/Long hair/veggie days that peanut butter and Branston pickle was a favourite too. But I was a bit weird then.

In the pub last night, we were eating various odds and sods off of the menu, meatballs, nachos with cheese, nibbles type stuff, and one of the things that someone ordered was Chicken with Chocolate and Chili Sauce...

It was ... odd ... I can't say it seemed like a particularly good idea, and wasn't necessarily awful either, just didn't seem to do anything for me.

I love chocolate with chilli, and the only worthwhile way to eat rich fruitcake is with a slice of Wensleydale!

Venison and soft liquorice kebabs. I though the liquorice was mushroom stalks until I started eating it. It was very nice but not something I would have guess would work.

Christmas cake and Lancashire cheese was the order of the day when I was growing up in that county. Sweet and savoury is a world wide combination.

I once mistook a jug full of chocolate sauce for gravy. It did not improve the mange tout.

The jars used by the makers of Bisto Best gravy powder and of Kenco instant coffee can look very similar to a bleary-eyed early morning caffeine seeker. It's a mistake I don't intend making again.
