Am I correct in thinking that you cannot use a car horn between 23h00 and 07h00 the following morning in residential areas?  And if so, which bit of the Highway Code says that?

1) Yes(ish) - 23:30 to 07:00, in fact.

2) Rule 112. And note the MUST NOT.

Are you perchance reporting that bus that beeped at me for no reason whatever (guess they thought 'riding a bike' was reason enough) and then proceeded to overtake and squash you into an empty parking space? Good work :)

Shame it was only 23:10...

They should add a clause to not make any tyre noise and muffle their engines.

The point about not sounding your horn is because it wakes people up. I would like the Highway Code to include that car alarms MUST NOT be used between 23.00 and 07.00 too.

Yep - not only will car thieves be arrested for TWOC they can be done for setting off the car alarm too.
