I've never seen Hardraw Force as swollen as that. Must have been wet.

it looks reet nice there, think I'll go there on my bike. Just been planning a ride with Uncle Peter that will take us to Hawes and past Ribblehead and down to Settle

Yes, there'd been some very heavy rain in the days immediately before, and then periodic heavy showers...

The Ribble* at Stainforth   (next to campsite)

*from our tent this sounded a bit like the M4 on a busy day, but it was constant, and didn't prevent sleep...  :)

Found this in the reviews of the campsite:

Just back from a three night stay on this excellent site, where we enjoyed (sic) some of the wettest weather ever seen by humans. Overnight the River alongside the site rose by several feet and locals said they hadn't seen the river so high in years.
I think they may have been there slightly before us...

They did - thanks.  Would have liked to have camped for longer.  Apparently the Grassington festival had problems with flooding... We only had one day of really good weather, and went to Malham area - doing the five mile shortened walk...  Pen-y-ghent had been on the cards, but though not raining in the main, it had a cap of low cloud at times.  Steam train, which could be heard but not seen (except for the steam that is), went passed the campsite a couple of times...
