Railway and other cycle paths

I discovered this one today. A nice pootle and the cutting is rock with lots of ferns and bits. Very pleasant. From where I turned off the surface gets a bit stonier and muddier with a few roots but is still quite rideable, best on a MTB though a tourer should cope.

The 'join the dots' cycle path. Through a wooded area but it has solar powered lights along the edge of the path.. Freaky...

They have a few cyclepaths like that in Cambridgeshire.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who pretends they're going down the runway, about to take off....  :-[  ;D

How do they stop the neds (or in Reg's case, students) nicking them?

The ones round Cambridge are actually buried in the pavement/tarmac itself.

Cycle paths are rather heavy andfirmly attached to the ground. Though I did complain to the council when the contractors relaying th epath dug it up and left no warning signs. That was an interesting experience at night. I informed them that someone had stolen the cyclepath.

And do you pretend that you're an aeroplane on the runway?   ;) ;D

Child!

My parents have those in their back garden. Next time I'm in it when it's dark, I shall run up and down making aeroplane noises  ;D
