I was marshalling, which is a photo-op if ever there was one.  The sequence starts with the novice riders, which is why the bikes start out with plenty of commuters and segue into race bling.

Exeter Inn, where you take a left to go over the river and up to Black Cat. 

I'm trying to figure out what the guy in the aero hat riding the yellow TT bike was doing in the Novice race..!

Ah, right I did think of there but couldn't see the pub....but I guess you outside the pub so we don't see it.

Maybe I'll do a triathlon one day and those people on shopper bikes will trounce me

For the novices, that was the halfway turnaround.  They'd done it, they were going to finish, oorah!  

You should have seen the grins at the finish.

What was the hi-viz yellow sticker on lots (but not all of) of the helmets?

That's the novices.  It's so the refs and marshalls can easily identify them as invariably there's some crossover between the novice and sprint field (some in each field are very, very slow and some are very, very quick too.

Athlete waves are scheduled by estimated swim time so it all gets wonderfully randomized on the road.
