Wild Gooseberries

Yes I know they are not wild (do such things exist?), they are probably the spawn of local cultivated garden varieties that have been distributed by birds.

But on my walk today I went at a more stroll-y pace than usual and spent time looking in the hedge rows.  They are mostly beech around here and so not yet in leaf.  This meant that other stuff intermingled stood out plainly if it was already green.
I was very surprised at that amount of gooseberry plants there appeared to be.

I've made a mental map of the larger specimens near our place so that I will be hopefully able to re find them later in the season.

Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.
