AIUI, it must travel by bicycle (though I suspect we'll extend that definition to any form of human powered vehicle[1]), with the exception of water crossings.  So ferries are allowed, trains very much aren't.

[1] There was some debate as to the validity of SmallestCub's pushchair short-wheelbase, fully faired, direct-drive, recumbent tandem quadricycle for the purpose.  We reckoned it was broadly in the spirit of the thing.

You could give it a treat and get on the Mersey Ferry for a ride to Wallasey.

I've done and gone and had a shave.  Bit late, really.

Bit early, I'd say.  Unless you're packing a razor for your Iranistan etc trip...?

The baton is now in Liverpool.......

Might it be an idea to get it transferred either in Morecambe or somewhere on our WotR ride on the 24th?  Get it over to the right side of the country :)

I'd better get updating the route map.  Should get some time this weekend to catch up on where the Baton has been

Crivens.  Liverpool already - I thought it was heading down to London first or perhaps I've lost track.  Not long before we see it in the northeast.  Might be cool to get it across the country on the WotR and perhaps Lindagordinho and I can meet up with Crinkly's second-coming second go, in a move north.  It could start a weave back over west.

The movements of the baton are primarily dictated by the availability of YACFers travelling by bicycle.  All the south-easterners at the camping weekend were rail-assisted, unfortunately.

Definitely doesn't mean the sarf will be missed out.  The baton isn't heading by the most direct route.
Getting there...

Presumably it can come back down via E Anglia & the SE after it's got to JoG.

I have a cunning plan.
If we can keep it in the Northlands till the end of November, some foolhardy well 'ard Audaxer may bring it south after the AUK AGM.....

Hmm.  We're hiking in the lakes next week and I'm tempted to ride home to cambridge, what with not having a job to go to n'all.. Will see what the wifely reaction is to me taking a few days out.

liverpool's almost on the way, isnt it?

The baton is now in Liverpool.......

If you can make next week, Monday or Tuesday and suggest a point half way (or on the Wirral), I could get it to Manchester.

It may be in Liverpool for a while.  I won't be able to get any time off work next week, and for the 2 weeks after that will be cycling in forrin parts...

It looks like I could be the closest to AndrewC, using the google map of relay riders.  How far are you able / willing to ride out of Liverpool in the Ormskirk direction?  I could possibly meet on Friday afternoon / evening or Sunday morning.

Seems a shame to let the Baton linger too long in one place when lots of people are willing to carry it onward.

Yahudamoon, Chocolatebike and Tonycollinet are showing interest and are just southeast of me.

Considering that general direction of travel I am neat to tonycollinet 7 could then send it east or south enroute down the country to the M25 village :demon: ;D

Now that the PBP trip has been missed and the baton is quite North, it would be logical to do a LE JOG LE coming down on the East coast.

'Dark Santanic Mills' me thinks?  ;) Quite North, but not past half way if we go off the Centre of Great Britain, Dunsop Bridge.  I live approx 10 miles south of Dunsop Bridge; as this is just short of 'the point of no return' the Baton can take a turn back to the 'Softy South'  ;D for the winter!!

Get to fuck. I've got enough of my own shite (which I'm currently supposed to be packing).

I could drop it off on someone not too far away, mind.

I've had a few offers to meet up at the weekend, but am not sure if i can commit to a meeting.

After last weekends exertions I have a Very Sore Arse*......., and don't want to do any riding until it's better .

Well I'm ready and able to give it a southward push in the direction of Joggler - if it is a little way to the north of me.

Where is/who has the Baton now?
Are there any plans to move it on?

I think logic is the last criterion in the movement of this trophy. It needs a few WARTIES and MEMWNRs.
