Courier carriage for bicycles
« on: 17 April, 2008, 09:24:49 pm »
may need to get a courier/carriage company  to pick up a bike from a private house down sarf and deliveit to r to Embra. (fingers crossed)

in the very old days I think I could have red starred it, with a local pick up and delivery to my local station.  perhaps not nowadays though?

Anyone else successfully done this and would recommend a particular company?

oh, and while we are here, perhaps I should have put this into 'the knowledge' instead - but do I have the power to move it across to another board?  ???

Have you thought about parcel force?  You can arrange it online and they collect.  24 hour is £25 and 48 hour is £20.

I just booked online with interparcel.com.

Put in the start and destination addresses and the parcelsize, they will then give you a choice of services/quotes to select from.

Many years ago a friend of mine who was working in a hotel in Herne Bay for the summer wanted a bike to get about. I took my little used post office bike to Bromley South station and put it on a train and he took it off the other end.

Good suggestions all, thanks.

Will be making a choice following the closure of bidding at the weekend, maybe....
