Yes, he was superb. I have an LP with him playing the concertos 1 and 3. The other side has Gervaise De Peyer with the clarinet concerto, which is why my parents in law bought it for my birthday, knowing I had played it at school (most of it, anyway!). It's as perfect a pairing as you'll ever get, I think - or threeing, if we include the divine Mozart. If I had the equipment readily to hand, it would be playing now.
