None the wiser, but he looks much less annoying than he did when in Star Trek TNG....

What the bloody hell is a Wil Wheaton? 1  And what the fuck is it doing constantly in my twitter feed?
Not interesting. 2  Please go away.

1 Don't bother.  I did the googly thing

2  But not as uninteresting as the occasional American sports stuff that turns up.  What on earth have I done to deserve that?

Oh ffs,  will you FUCK OFF.  You are a very uninteresting person.

Yeah, but shutting up would be much better.
No need for apologies  once you've gone.

Oxfam!

I know where my nearest shop is, but I can't drop off this tantalising crate of Shiny Things there because there's nowhere to park.  And I know where my nearest donation point is too, but I can't drop off this tantalising crate of Shiny Things there either, because the wossnames into which the Shiny Things are usually posted are conspicuous only by their absence.  I know this because I went there this evening just gone.

Never mind, I shall look on that The Internet that they have now for another nearby book-accepting donation point.

Ah!  Your webby SCIENCE is, not to put too fine a point on it, piss-awful.  If I ask it to find me Book Donation Points near $MY_POSTCODE, I do not want a list of $EVERYTHING as far away as Leigh on fucking Sea.  That's forty miles away.  Or eighty, counting the journey back.

And the thing is so slow that I think your server must be full of jam.  And wasps.  Dead wasps.  Either that or you're on the receiving end of a DOS attack, as I really don't think that every insomniac in the EU is looking for their nearest donation point simultaneously.

I would really like to give you this tantalising crate of surplus-to-requirements Shiny Things but on the whole it may just be easier to bung it at the Salvation Army instead...

Sainsburys: when I inadvertently ticked the 'allow substitutes' box on a number of previous orders, I failed to notice that the substitutes were rather expensive and not really that close to what I'd ordered. So now I always tick the 'no substitutes' box.

However, on today's order I chose 6 bottles of wine to get the 25% discount. Even the rather unusual Manzanilla was in stock, so why was it that your own brand Cotes du Rhone wasn't? No way was I paying full price for the other five bottles, so back they all went.

In as a grumble, as I knew there was a risk of them not all being in stock.

I too have fallen foul of the failed multibuy special offer when one item is out of stock. (I seldom allow substitutes either.)
If I really want to take advantage of an offer, I order all from one line.

I usually take the gamble and just hope all is in stock.

I woke up this morning with a hankering for a motorcycle ride, so thought that I'd have a tinker with the bike.

This obviously isn't a grumble. However...

The bike has no MOT, no VED and no insurance. My fault.
It's been up on stands for, I think, about two years so I probably don't have any NCB any more.
It probably needs more work than the bike's actually worth, but I love it enough to do it anyway.
Oh and the kicker - I just tried on my leathers and I can't get them fastened.

When there's been something out of stock on a Tesco multi-buy offer, they've still given us the reduced price.

Thanks to a wobbly table, I spilled some wine near the laptop yesterday. A drop must have gone into the USB port, because about 2 hours later a message box popped up telling me to unplug whatever was using too much power, which was confusing as there was nothing plugged in, then I noticed the crackling sound and smell of smoke  :o

After several attempts of leave for a while then switch on, each time it got hot around the USB port. Thankfully is working fine now, but still smells of smoke.

Dear BT,
I pay £1.75 per month for 'Privacy at Home with Caller Display'.
I have used a phone for texts for several years, though not much as it's wall-mounted and I can't stand up for long.
David inadvertently sent a text to the landline recently, which went through fine. (Bloody imessages/iphone!)

I've just treated myself to a pair of new cordless phones, so I can send texts more easily from my landline.

Test messages sent from my mobile to my landline are all coming through several minutes later as fucking text-to-voice messages, disturbing David with the constant ringing.
I deregister for SMS to voice.
I then receive an automated call informing me I can't get SMS texts as I don't have Caller Display.

GRRRRRRRR! I use SMS cos it's quiet; constant automated phone calls are not quiet.
I'm paying for a service I can't get.

I have complained to BT but not yet had a reply.

GGGRRR!!!

Shouldn't he use this
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get remove wine to fix this problem ?

Does the caller display work?

Yes. Always has done.
Had it for years but only had to pay extra for it recently.

Just tried and our BT line is still delivering SMSes as text correctly.  I haven't touched 000000 for years (and at this point, I've no desire to).

No such frikking luck!
Still get text to voice.

To add insult to injury, BT have sent a feedback survey about my latest issue.
BT never contacted me, either by email or by phone and I STILL CAN'T GET TEXTS!!!!!
