Is that supposed to be a link? (or have I, as is often the case, missed the point..)

I assume it's a comment on the previous post, which hasn't aged well:

Electricity = £15 a month
Gas = £35 a month

House is 1930s semi with 9 inch solid walls, so not good for insulation.

Fuel for car - last YEAR I spent £100.

I wasn't sure if 'threat' was actually a typo for 'thread'.

Actually with all the inflation talk and cost of living crisis and all that. Would be interesting to perform a little necromancy I. This thread and update the numbers. How much do you all spend on food per week?

As per original question. Just food purchased to bring to the home. Not meals out etc...

I think for me it's about €50-70 depending on if I've gone to the butchers or not. And that's to feed 1 person.

What about the rest of you?

I spend about £80 on our Ocado shop, and 30 at the butchers with another 15-20 on our local veg system.

Ocado includes all washing and household items.  This is high and I could certainly reduce both the butcher and vegetable but they are local, high quality and support local farming, small holding and curing.

We spend about £120 on 3 of us- plus extra on milk and bread between times.
Up to a tenner a week is baking ingredients for the weekly bake-for-work, and about £50 is on the 3rd of us who eats waaaaayyy more than Mr Smith & I- but she powerlifts and muscles don't grow if you don't feed them. She eats well, cooking and eating 3 proper meals every day. It doesn't include her protein shakes/powders/bars which might cost the same again.

I actually have no idea. We don't do a weekly shop - we just buy stuff when needed. I suspect it's more than would be ideal (I know the Co-op on the corner isn't the cheapest shop, but it's so handy...).

I'd have to do some maths as we are back to shopping at 2-3 different places a month to keep costs down and or buy in bulk, so usually 1-2 big shop at Tesco/Sainsbos a month etc and then Aldi in the meantime. During the worst of Covid 2020-21 we just did the main big shop to minimise shop exposure which was notably more expensive.

Also work out how much is not-food, but stuff like bogroll, cleaning stuff, random shite that you buy from a supermarket.

Food costs are changing all the time as well.

We typically spend £80-100 p/w at the supermarket for a family of four (although two are 6 and 10).

That excludes weekday lunches for all of us: the Kinder eat at school, Jo doesn't eat during the daytime (too busy), I get a daily cash lunch allowance of up to £4.50 from my kind employer.

We rarely drink, and tend not to eat much meat.  A fair portion of the weekly shop goes on milk (usually around 24-30 pints a week).  The cat costs a bloody fortune to feed!

We mostly gave up the weekly and buy what we need when we need it, figuring that neither of us enjoyed an hour in the supermarket every Sunday. So also no idea. It has the benefit of forcing on-the-fly menu planning since we never quite have what we need and neither of us can be bothered going out to get it.

I do one big supermarket delivery order once a month around pay day. That covers all the heavy stuff, bulky stuff, and frozen stuff. Then I'll goto the butchers separately, and top up with the occasional visit to the supermarket to get fresh bread.

Our food costs are really high. For two of us, about 600-800 Euros per month.

We eat low carb so expensive ingredients
We buy organic meat
We have one or two restaurant meals per month

We have chosen to ‘invest’ in quality food for reasons of health, plus we choose to eat low carb, so this is not something we are actively trying to change. Most of our main food comes from Aldi (they are really good for organic in Germany) and the local farm shop for eggs and strawberries.

I spend £30-40 a week, that includes cleaning items as well.
This provides all my meals,  breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I only buy meat occasionally, and then only from the farm shop.

I will batch cook a weeks evening meals in the slow cooker on Saturday. I freeze what I don't immediately need & then defrost as I go through the week.

This is for one person.

We shop at local and independent businesses including a local bakery, a farm shop and a specialist cheese shop as well as a shop selling organic and fair trade teas and coffees and ethical cleaning products.   We also buy fruit and veg from the market on Saturdays.

It would be fair to say that we don't really know how much we spend on our weekly shop but we do try to support local businesses wherever possible.  We are fortunate to be able to make these choices.

Same here. I almost never go out to just do a food shop.
We have a rolling list and pick food up when we are going somewhere anyway.
OH gets a lot of our basic provisions from the "local" wholefood shop most weeks when he volunteers at the railway.
Local being a 36 mile round trip! He also gets food at the co-op convenience store in the same small town.
Yes it probably costs more, but our nearest proper supermarket is a 36 mile round trip in the opposite direction (more in bad weather). It's not just the fuel, it's the time.
He's at the GPs this morning, so different small co-op and independent fruit and veg shop. (we don't eat meat or fish)
That's a 12 mile round trip and sorry but it is much too hilly to bike with shopping!
We have enough medical-related appointments and other activities to pass a supermarket, any one will do, and top up on other goods as and when.
I do batch cook and freeze quite a lot, and put a lot of thought into balancing our meals to use up what we have in stock.

If we exclude alcohol, about £60-70 for the two of us.  Including alcohol, probably about £100.  I tend to buy more expensive wine that Mr R.

£112 per week (average) over the last 20 weeks.

(I have my boys men on alternate weeks, so it averages out at £56 per person per week).

That's all food, drinks, booze and household stuff: 1 delivery each week from Tesco plus all the in-between bits and pieces from the local co op. £15 pw of that is wine, sometimes £20.

I prep most meals from scratch, including lunches at home/the office.

(That was really interesting. I pay for everything with a card, so it's easy to check by looking back over statements.)
What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

So do we. We enjoy it and use good basic ingredients to make it a healthy option.
But I suspect it is more expensive than filling up on cheap convenience junk.
Having a veg plot really helps.
