Title: What was the 'ride a stage of the tour' event held this weekend?
Post by: Russell on 09 July, 2019, 08:56:03 am
It wasn't Etape du Tour because that is later in the month.  It was a tough stage though run in high temperatures.

I ask because a member of the extended family put himself in hospital following the ride - took 4 hours longer than anticipated and due to a temperature in the 40s ended with dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Most likely was - thanks.

For all but the elite riders this is usually a major struggle as the sun will be baking in the early afternoon - the 2013 Marmotte saw riders experience 44 degrees centigrade heat on this climb.

Good news is that after 3 nights in the ICU he has been discharged and after an overnights rest in a hotel he should be flown home this evening.  Was quite serious for a time.
