ACME Easter Arrow Teams 2017
« on: 27 January, 2017, 07:55:53 pm »
Somewhere to recruit riders and knock into shape ACME plans for the assault on York...

Cheap train tickets are available NOW - looks like it has to be done individually [no group-save] with bike bookings.

No groupsave on Vermin East Coast, but you can book several tickets at a time, and up to the same number of bike reservations.

Looks like we may need two teams for the Thursday evening start!

Witham 'spoons ok for location? Either same time start, different routes, maybe meeting up after 12 hours or so at Sleaford's Pack Horse Inn [Wetherspoons] for breakfast and again at the finish, of course. Otherwise start an hour apart on same route and still overlap a bit in Sleaford, probably...

^ 5 spaces officially, I thought...

Btw, York YHA is £35/night [ in a dorm] I'll go for that if no-one wants to share a Travelodge room, not that I'm a cheapskate or anything...

Happy sharing a room.

Just checking trains from Liverpool Street to Witham to see how timings might work.

After 1830 from Liverpool Street, so depends what planned start it is Thursday night. Else drive to Witham and retrieve car over weekend.

So to recap on the bookings for Friday night:

Room 1 Double, 2 adults
Room 2 Double, 2 adults
Room 3 Double, 1 adults
Room 4 Double, 1 adults
Room 5 Double, 1 adults

There doesn't appear to be any price difference between the occupancy of the rooms, I think its just so they know the number and names of occupying soles...

So on these arrows, everyone only rides TO York (work commitments preventing riding home)?
Bikes are for riding, not cleaning!

Thank you for sorting this out Jason ... presumably one of those is for me, and if so, would you prefer cash or money straight into your account?

Happy for a bank transfer Andrew... no rush at the moment, we can sort it out in a couple of weeks.. I think the key thing was getting the places reserved before the BH rush.

You can extend to a 600 - has been done...200km back south takes you to a Peterborough-ish sort of distance, via the LEL [old] route. Teethgrinder usually rides home...

I saw tg in spoons last week. He mentioned a 500k to York, the 300 mark being my home town of Brid! I'm still planning my audax calendar.

You might all like to know. the below from Greater Anglia:

Saturday, April 15, 2017 (CLICKY)
As a result of Crossrail and Overhead Line Renewal works, there will be no Greater Anglia train service between London Liverpool Street and Ingatestone / Billericay all day.

I guess I am going to ride back (80ish I think along the canals and then UP the hill in Chingford and Epping Forest. I did it last year after a morning finish and it was fine, I even managed to help a damsel in distress with getting her boar through a lock!)
