Yup - looking forward to getting the route sheet & plotting it out.

Hope it's warmer in the night than last year ...

Is it just a name change for a year?? Looks the same.... but would I remember?

🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I’ve decided I’m not old. I’m 25 .....plus shipping and handling.

No need to guess, matt, GPS and Mike have posted above you to say they are doing it. I expect you are still tired from Saturday.  Perhaps take it easy today and avoid posting on the Internet.

I'm not riding this event this year, although it's a great event. I am, however, staying in the vicinity of Llandovery on Saturday night and planning to ride up there via Brecon, and then do the Lliane Brianne-Tregaron-Cwmystwyth-Elan loop before either wussing out and taking the Newbridge road and main road back to Llandov or being an idiot and going for Beulah to Abergwesyn-Devils staircase-Gamalt then turning left to go back over Lliane Briane and drop down through Cilycwm back to the pub.

Will possibly coincide with some riders at Llandovery and Tregaron, so just wondering who to look out for

Well if you'd just said that in the first place it would have avoided any possibility of doubt!
[statistically, these sort of threads are almost always started by actual participants. mea culpa for making an assumption  :hand: ]

I shall look out for your usual cheery wave :)

I doubt I'll see you matt, as I won't be at the start. I'll probably drive to Aust and take the Usk road, but I'm unlikely to be on that 1 mile stretch from Bulwark to Budgens at exactly the same time as the BC departs. If I see you at Llandovery it would be on my return to pub and bed, but I doubt I'll be feeling cheery

Nevertheless, I hope you have a pleasant ride

HoE done. Brevet Cymru is the next outing for Thunderbird 2. Looking forward to it - favourite 400 but too long since I've ridden it.

What times are the Llandovery controls open?
I will be in the area that weekend.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows when the route will be finalised and the official route sheet released? The email I had from Richie said that the Bwlch control was being used and the attached route sheet went to Llangattock.

Also there is the question of the first section and what will be used, there are some options.

Unless there is an info it's the classic route for me. No gratuitous hills.

You would also get to miss out that annoying fucking dog that runs in front of you for miles on the single track to Hay, keeping an eye out for any (futile) attempt to overtake him.

That was fun with the dog. Best bit of audax in 2016.

It was bizarre. He was covering all our attacks so we ended up having to emulate racing tactics with the old one-two.

He knew what he was doing though. I expect he'd been reading the AUK calendar page.

Classic, as in Golden Valley?

Ha loved the sheepdog..but was worried that he'd get lost.
I quite like the new lane route as the surface on the golden valley is really poor .

routesheet arrived by email. Phew - I was getting worried that there might be confusion right upto 0559 Sat (and beyond!)

All looks ... "normal". But there seems to be a new Info in (or just after) Monmouth, and no INFO on Stage 2 - didn't there used to be one just before Builth Wells?

I'm looking at the bit to Hay; CROSS ASH and MICHAELCHURCH are passed through - does that mean it's the 2015 variation?  I'm sure it's all good ...

I see the penultimate control has reverted to its pre-2014 location, and I've only ever done it with the Llangattock variation.
Anyone got a more precise location for that village hall?
I don't know how obvious "On LEFT (bottom of hill)" will be at silly o'clock on Sunday morning and I'd prefer to have it as a waypoint on the GPS.
