Thunderbird problem - SOLVED
« on: 27 November, 2011, 07:24:01 pm »
I downloaded a new version of Thunderbird (I'm running Vector Linux 6.00) and I seem to have lost my local folders!  Is there any recovery from this? :-\

Possibly

If you're lucky, it's just looking in the wrong place for the local folders. If not, it's over-written them

Do you know where they used to live ? If so, go there and see if the old ones still exist, then back them up, then poke about in the T-Bird settings to point it at them. It might at this stage make new new local folders in the new location, which is why you must back the old ones up first.  If it does that you can replace the new new ones with the old ones.

Thanks, guys.  If I do 'updatedb' (as root) and then issue a 'locate' command, what should I be searching for?

S'OK! I was looking at Thunderbird while logged on as root (to update it and Firefox); when I looked at it while logged on under my normal user ID, all the files were there (or course ::-)).

Many thanks for prompt help.
