I assume we're on a direct raid to the Compasses tonight.   I'm still in possession of Gavin/Giles/SSN's front light (I'll explain later).

I'm not 100% sure I'll make it to spa Rd by 19:30, so if I don't, I'll assume a direct route and hope to intercept you before dark

Have arrived at the Compasses at a record early time with AndyC33 and the BFC via a semi - direct route (Notleys. Baker's lane, young's end) at over 16 mph.

I am assuming that our returning heroes  will be looking for a short option for Wednesday night ? By the way, huge kudos and Stetson-sized chapeaux all round to the ACME peloton for the weekend's efforts.

MEMWNS went to HQ last week but there is nothing to stop us going there again, unless anyone else has a better suggestion.

Following on from OD's post about spreading our wings, it is the time of year when we have the long nights to play with.  I have a couple of seaside ideas that mean going eastwards so we also ought to have a look at places that take us west as well.

It was discussed in the Team Volvo about convening at the King Billy which is centralish for the ACME peloton that completed the BCM and me of course

I think I might be on duty on Wednesday night so not likely to make it out  :( I do owe some time at home so can't really complain.

Rain gods may be out tomorrow afternoon but promises to brighten up from tea time onwards, so I may well be out as well :)

True, not tried the rain legs in anger yet, though Captain Slow borrowed them to go to work in on a ride to work day and reported them as "good"...

Well when I've tried them in the wet I'll let you know. So far OK for keeping chill of legs but jury is out on wet performance as it looks like they will drip on shoes?

Nope, in the wet Rainlegs perform brilliantly. They basically keep your legs dry when it's raining. Plus they mark you out as a style icon so right up your street!

In the absence of anyone else proposing a route as yet, how about this for a Witham Spa Rd start.  A leisurely trundle out to Felsted could see us meet Tomsk at the Swan at about 8:15.  The route plotted uses traditional roads but the option of some Flitch Way fun could be taken instead.  If roads are used we'll be at the King Billy just before 9 and probably just in daylight still, the FW option adds 15-20 mins.
Lower planned mileage than recent mid-week 'training' rides, open to other route suggestions or for people to follow their own path.

Looking at the weather outside, I think a FW option would only be for you and OD.  As OD is in Reading, you are on your own for that.

Now that it seems to be drying out, I'm going to loop west of Braintree to stick a cycle route sign where one is needed on Cressing Road, for 'Saxons'. I couldn't do that last week on my route check as it was rather damp...So I'll have to give meeting up at Felsted a miss - see you all at the King Billy.
