Actually - I just looked at the stats on slippy's endomondo link there -- "Hydration: 0.58L".  That's suspiciously close to 1 pint.

Is that there so you can assess how early you break the seal?

I'm in
Witham peloton departure from Spa Road area at 7:30?

Yes, we can kidnap Slippy from opposite the fire station and take him to Maldon collecting Oaky as added muscle at the Jack 'n' Jenny.  Does anyone have a route to Maldon in mind?

I will see you all somewhere between the J+J and fire station at approximately 7:35.

A combination of lethargy and the weather have persuaded me to stay at home this evening.

I've had a G&T and a sherry. And some beer.

Well I don't get out much but after a 25 mile commute I thought I'd push the envelope and go out with the Wednesday night lot. Slippy's route felt against the grain for getting to Maldon I was feeling

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l4jqnSolGKs

So Whatsisface and I peeled away, my day starts at six and I could see zero relaxation if I'd stayed plus a late night sorry boys but I can't do late ones midweek these days. I'm glad you enjoyed your sherry OD. Still 50 plus miles for me yesterday.

Never mind bloomers, we'll forgive the pair of you  :-*

I thought slippy's Wednesday night route was a triumph and afforded us the opportunity to ride down Paulk Hall Lane (a favorite of mine) and splash through the ford.  Incidentally, the OS have made an error spelling it "Pork Hall Lane".  I wonder if this is was of their deliberate mistakes to catch out copyright infringers?

The Blue Boar never disappoints and I for one had a most enjoyable evening.

slippy's route was very pleasant.  It was only when OD diverted it (including Paulk Hall Lane, a well known haunt of the puncture fairy (it's not signposted "Hole Farm" for nothing!)) that the road surfaces started to deteriorate ;)

The rest of us stuck to beer (or lager in slippy's case) with the Farmers Ales "Doctor" being the most popular (Tomsk stuck with the "Golden Boar").

OD was sporting a very OD-ish outfit which was described, rather accurately in my opinion, as the "escaped mental patient" look.  I may have a picture of this somewhere...

I'm attempting to move cycle clothing fashion forward by combining traditional cycling wear with selected items sourced from the High Street.

I was indeed snoozing away when Bloomers and Whatshisface headed off from GW to meet the Withamites.  However, once I'd woken up I got on the bike and cycled to Maldon to meet the others.

After missing a turn off for Maldon I was happily cycling in the wrong direction when four cyclists came into view.  The first thing that stood out was a particularly rare pair of shorts worn by OD.  After saying evening to each other I realised it was the usual gang

I joined the tail end of the group and had the pleasure of enjoying jokes about the shorts and referrals to escapees all the way to Maldon  ;D  It sounded like Bloomers and Whatshisface had had quite a tour already so headed to the safety of the Compasses for a couple.

We met Tomsk at the Boar and a couple of light ales were consumed.

I rode back with Tomsk and other than a hedge stop and a change of rear light batteries (thanks for those Oaky, much needed) we made good pace.  I got back home at 00:30 in the end.

It was also good to see the little black book of ideas (or what ever it is called) for the first time  8)

Splendid evening indeed

Is anybody around tomorrow night?

I know it's not that exotic, but I'm quite tempted by the Compasses.  (Alternatively, we haven't been to either the Walnut Tree at Broads Green or the Three Elms at Chignall St James recently).

If you were to do the Three Elms next week, forward planning I know, I could ride over and meet you all there . Cannot do this week as having to go "up norff" again tomorrow.

OK - let's put the Three Elms off for a week, and go to one of the other two (or somewhere else) this week.

I may not be able to leave Witham at 7:30 so I will meet you wherever you decide on. The Compasses works for me. Not massively original but you can't go wrong. We need to encourage Joss to launch some sort of loyalty scheme.

I might come out. I likes the ride over to Witham and a degree of directness there after. I can show you my Vulpine tailored shorts.

I will be at the Compasses

I can't do next week [book club - not the first Weds of the month this time] but will trot over tonight via the Three Elms to get some of their superior PORK SCRATCHINGS for the FlitchBikers on Saturday.

I have a meeting this evening and it looks as though my Thursdays, for the foreseeable, will be dedicated to grandchildren and involving an early start to Maidstone so my already rare visits might be further reduced by dwindling opportunity.

I suggest Withamites congregate opposite the fire station at 7:30 (apart from OD who is following on later).

If the weather is nice, I'd even be tempted to take a relatively direct(-ish) route in the hope of sitting outside for a pint or two.
