It's really hard to tell how close they were from that vid - it looks like more than an arm-length away, were they closer than that?

Based on my YouTube experience, I'd guess that was less than a foot from Arno's shoulder/handlebars.

Yes it was quite close. That camera has 170 degree angle of view (I guess on the diagonal). might be able to tell the exact distance if I knew the size of his wheels with a bit of trigonometry.

Coming through Beckenham this morning, I heard a car horn behind me, glanced round and saw a giant silver B*W X3 Wankpanzer. Not surprised it couldn't get past - it was taking up pretty much the full width of the lane. They are astonishingly large vehicles. I really don't get why anyone would wilfully drive such a ridiculous vehicle in suburban London.

Moments later, the road ahead became clear enough for him to pass, which he did, before immediately turning left. A manoeuvre that must have saved him all of half a second. I just hope that wherever he was going, it was worth the rush.

People, eh? ::-)

Nice ride in though. Lovely spring-like conditions, and traffic generally seemed much lighter than yesterday.

a close overtake on the commute yesterday. Had a few words with the driver who advised me to ride 'in the kerb'.
videoed here http://www.youtube.com/v/qEcWCcZp58Q&rel=1 and left mentioning he's 'knock me out' any time.
Is that something you'd report on roadsafe?

waiting at the lights at the bottom of Blackheath Hill I was overtaken by two jerks on road bikes who ran the red light. It gave me great pleasure to pass them about 30 seconds later, on fixed, with full panniers :demon:
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

As my commute is only 5 miles each way, I don't get Friday (or Thursday) legs.
I often get Monday (or Tuesday) legs, due to week-end silliness.
Admission. I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

*Gets DVD Box Set out to check facts*

Sorry, I appear to have mangled a Dr Who quote, which didn't quite work. In "Tooth and Claw", in the second series of the modern era (David Tennent as the Doctor, and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler), the Doctor is posing as a Secondary School Physics teacher, and uses the word "Correctamundo" - which I had mis-remembered.
I was attempting to say "+1" to Basil in a new and interesting way; my commute is 3 miles each way, so my tired legs are on Mondays.

Got a front wheel puncture on the way to work.
On the way home, I was tired mentally and ran off on a sharp right due to excess speed.
Another 10 miles on I run off into the rut caused by traffic going off the tarmac and into the verge ( the muddy rut next to the road ) and had a roller coaster ride until I could get it back onto the road. Glad I didn't fall off.

Venus & the moon, clearly visible. Didn't see jupiter.
(Predictably, I was advised by my pilot that if I turned round, I'd see Uranus)

Was having a look at that with the help of a phone app, google sky map. Was a nice thing to see, being I have looked up at the sky at night and never been to sure what I have been looking at.
