So is it any good ? and which Garmin is it closest to.

to my mind, you have to be a very determined individualist to use anything other than a Garmin, at least here in the UK - sometimes it's better to run with the herd.

I like mine. I have had it for a few months now and it is a solid unit. It is still a work in progress but the user forum is definately getting better. Without looking, I'm not sure how it currently stacks up in price compared to the Garmin 705/800s but at my time of purchase it was considerably cheaper. I don't agree with the comment to just always stick with Garmin because lots of other people use them. I have had problems with Etrex and Forerunner series in the past and felt it was time to give another brand a go.
So far I am not disappointed.
