Well, I'd say reading the text updates would have been a better experience than watching ITV. The commentary was abject.

At least it comes out of the centre speaker.  For no reason I can fathom, the Beeb's gems of wisdom come out of the left side only ???

It's been mooted that South Africa will be invited to join the Six Nations in 2025 or thereabouts . Italy would be dumped.
Looking at past results, it would almost  kill off any chance of Wales or Scotland ever winning a Grand Slam and give England and Ireland a 50/50 chance.
Would it put a lot of fans off ?

Interesting.  It might give more home-grown players a chance to pull on their own country's colours and fight for second place.  Scotland already have 2 Saffers, not sure about the rest.  Invite Fiji as well and the chances for home-grown players open even more!  But actually, no, I don't want SA in the competition.

ISTR Argentina expressed a preference for joining the Six Nations rather than throwing their lot in with the rest of the Southern Hemisphere big boys, as nearly all their top top players plied their trade in Europe anyway.  The Man wouldn’t let them.  What's so different about South Africa all of a sudden?

Buenos Aires is only three hours behind BRITAIN so a 1pm kickoff would coincide quite nicely with tea-time in Europe.  And both Argentina and Sith Ifrika are a bloody long way to go for an away game :demon:

Perhaps they should just get all the top-flight teams to play in a single competition.  To save money and emissions they could hold it, say, every four years.  Just needs a snappy name, like “Global Trophy” or something.

I think the SA idea is dumb based on excessive flights and shiz.  I think the Argies is a great idea, base them in Barcelona for fun time out for everyone.  Also this would be good for Argies but also would develop the 6 Nation teams.

Thought I’d told the Memory-Box to remember all the games.  Turns out it’s only remembering the ones on ITV.  Ergo I missed the first 15 minutes of Scotland-France.  Bumskins >:(

It’s a cracking match so far.

An observation:
In rugby football a try is scored only when the player manages to touch the ball down beyond the try line
In American foofbol when a player gets the ball beyond the plane of the goal line they shout tooouucchhdown even though the player rarely touches the ball down.

Mericans are funny folk.

Brilliant first half. Hogg will be kicking himself though.

PS I'm watching about 10 minutes in arrears.

Vaguely OT question: why do commentators (and, presumably, the players themselves) refer to SA players by their initials, rather than their names? WP Nel is the case in point here.

Well, I thought they played well in small doses, but France look very, very good. They seem to have no shortage of enormous players who are very burly and extremely fast.

Their ball handling was excellent as well, whereas the Scot’s couldn’t catch for toffee.

They ran out of time. Fortunately.
Next weeks match might be interesting, but France will wipe the floor with England.

It occurs to me that it must be quite dispiriting to play Rugby Union for Italy in the 6 nations.
