DIY PERM validation by GPX question
« on: 30 November, 2019, 07:31:19 pm »
Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place, but I have a question to ask...

If I complete a DIY PERM that's validated by GPX - will I get a brevet card?

Am asking cos have collected all my brevet cards to date and my OCD would kinda like this to continue.

Cheers, Doo  ;D
I dunno why anybody's doing this!

Nope - DIY via GPS is without brevet card, it uses a virtual brevet

Your DIY-by-GPX Organiser may (or may not) have an available supply of printed brevet cards for you to buy. If you do buy them (rather than virtual ones), you can still submit your proof of passage through your controls, or of completion of your mandatory route, by means of a GPS file.

(When the Organiser puts your ride on the results, he puts it down as a "printed card" one, even though the actual validation was by GPS. He pays AUK either for a printed card, or for the validation, not both.)

(Most orders for Printed Cards are now made by mistake, so tend to get a "Do you really want the printed ones?" enquiry from the Org.)

If you want a printed card, easiest option is to do an existing permanent... which in many 200 cases you can have validated by GPS from the organiser, if you agree this option in advance.
The down side is that there might not be one that passes in front of your door
