Deore v-brake BR-M590 routine service?
« on: 17 July, 2014, 03:22:43 pm »
I've just removed our v-brakes for a routine service, but the assembly that contains the pivot does not seem to be designed to be dismantled for servicing :o - it does not pivot on the frame studs, but instead has an internal bearing that is retained by a washer that is pressed onto a spindle during manufacture.  The Shimano tech doc does not give an exploded view of these assembly parts so I presume that it's not designed to be dismantled and regreased.  I don't see a way of removing the press fitted washer without the risk of causing damage.  So my options are to do nothing whilst it's working and replace when malfunction occurs or try to flush it clean with a solvent and relubricate without disassembly.  Am I missing something?  ???  Any advice please?
