iPod nano file transfer speed

It's hopeless.  is it USB 1.0?  Linux says 1.2MB/sec.  I'm sure I've backed up 50GB onto my Verbatim external hard drive quicker than 1.7MB onto this thing.

Overpriced Chinese shite  :(

I used to have a mark one nano, it worked quickly enough. Something not right there.....
