I has bought a duplicate replacement for my Carradice Bike Bureau.
I am pleased to report that the new, like the old, is a Sue.
Some interesting minor tweaks to the design, which appear to be improvements, viz strengthened the side loop substantially (no sign of issue from the old one, tbh), improved the laptop location by adding a simple pocket fixed to the back plate, altered the latching device so that it will be automatically latched, replaced the riveted name plate with an embossed leather. I'm not sure that the change from nylon to metal shoulder strap latches is a positive one (although clearly others use the shoulder strap more than I do - hence the reinforcement). The rubber top handle has been lost (shame) and the area of weakness at the join of the top flap hasn't been addressed, but it is only a weakness if you handle it wrongly by lifting by the flap, which unfortunately is a natural thing to do.
I should point out that the old one is only 10 (?) years old and there's life in it yet, but aforesaid area of weakness and general advancing age has prompted me to replace the best commuting pannier I have ever used.
All I need to do now is find some way of transferring the patina...... it will feel unnatural to use a new carradice.
