How many other purple fungi are there? Amethyst deceiver is the only one that comes to mind.

I found the step up rings for my LED Macro Ring Flash, so I might as well try and get out with my new camera this week, and try some fungi photies! Not sure how good the 18-55mm kit lens will be for macro though.

I haven't got any extension tubes, yet...

I've got a canon macro ringflash sitting doing nothing. Might be suitable for your purposes. It's doing nothing because I can't get it to work with Nikon (surprise!)
