Registration of Interest, Lower Thames Crossing
« on: 20 February, 2023, 10:59:38 pm »
It seems that the Planning Inspectorate are taking, what seems to me at least, a novel approach to hearing objections or otherwise to a road building scheme. Unless you have registered an interest in advance, you will not be allowed to lodge an objection. But if your objection doesn't fit in with specific criteria, then you won't be allowed to make it. It seems to me to be raising "BEWARE OF THE LEOPARD!" to an entirely new level.

I'd be interested in others' comments. There's a deadline of 24th February to register an interest.

Dunno.  For any local authority planning application, you have to register first before you can submit comments.  And things like "next door's extension blocks my light" isn't a valid objection.  So the Planning Inspectorate stuff is similar, just on a grander scale.

Yes, that’s probably the case (apart from next door’s extension blocking light, which in certain circumstances could be a ‘material planning consideration’!)

You’d need to know national policy, and planning guidance, relating to this kind of infrastructure project.
It is simpler than it looks.
