Looks good to me, and I'll do a 167 dash back to NA, I think (although if ICBA I will either call in IR or head to the station and risk an earfull getting on the train with CL)

How about this as a route?

We could pop across the A19 and go and see my Auntie Ruth!  Although this would, of course, decrease the amount of beer time available.   Having said that, she does do extremely good cake.....

Fine by me (though I can still drink on my antibiotics).

Jogler - orange cardboard = train tickets & bike reservations.

Train tickets.

I had a very swift sprint across town when I suddenly noticed that although the ticket office was open til 9, they only do 'tickets for travel today' after 7:45.  And then somewhat confused the ticket office chap by buying a day return for a couple of days hence to Northallerton and a single from Darlo to N'ton plus reserving a bike space from Darlo to York on one continous train journey but split across two tickets, because that worked out 3 quid cheaper than a day return to Darlo and travelling short.

He was quite impressed that I knew that my return train was setdown only at N'ton though.

Yus.  I don't know why, in my head, it was ten minutes earlier than that.  But I discovered not when I booked it.  East Coast, bikes in (allegedly) coach P.

Tiermat - what's your opinion on traversing the A19 to IA, if my auntie is at home, and popping in to eat all her cake say hello?

Fab.

Although I have a dreadful, shocking, truly disturbing confession to make.

i haz no caik.

I thought I had a cake in the freezer, but I was wrong.  And I didn't realise until it was really quite late, and didn't want to stay up 'til silly o'clock on a school night after a distinctly wednesday-ish wednesday to bake.

Sorry.

A grand night out.  Some surprisingly off-roady bits, an alternative bridge, a ford, green lanes, ponies, a marvellous pub, more cycling than the previous efforts yet the same amount of drinking.  Success, I'd say.  A bit damp at the end, and the drivers of Darlo let me down, but otherwise

Foxton Lane.  Yes, we did ride down it, and yes, it was on the route.  Better than the A684.

Just got back in, and I have to say this is what cycling is about to me.

Good friends, good weather (on the whole), a top class route (even the bit we had to walk due to me being on 23mm road tyres) and good beer and chips!

A Deano mentioned, only the rain, and Darlo drivers, let us down.  Quite why some chav in a Focus should continually sound his horn, flash his hazards and pass so close on a perfectly clear road is beyond me.

Oh and there was CAKE, provided by Mrs T's cousin's partner....

A win all round, I woulkd say :)

The offroad-y bits will also be good training for the run over Sleightholme Moor from Tan Hill ('cept not for Tiermat, cos he can't make it).

Roads, mild optical illusions, NSTN ratings of 'eep', 'wtf', 'sweaty rant' and beyond! With added ford. Have essential pics of chips'n'beer'n'caik to upload tomorrow, but am now home, slightly damp and chilly with alarm set for less than 5 hour's time. Sleepy. Happy :)

I like this one, it makes me look like I have a sensible bike for the route!

I liked the awards deciding in the pub, which included : Most inappropriate bike for this ride, and errrr, can't remember the rest.

Natch, as I was on my Ridley, with tiny little 23mm road tyres that award went to me :)

Least appropriate rider.  I think we also established that between mine and CL's bike, we had one bike appropriate to the occasion.

I await Crinkly's shots around Girsby bridge with pleasure.  It has an amusing history, that bridge:
