Bearing in mind I'm mostly too lazy to get to Aldi on the Fulford Road...

I'm starting to feel human again.  And at no point have I required the services of Boris[1] The Barf Bin.

[1] Barakta named him.  I think 'Blair' would be more appropriate.

If you lived in London you would find Boris a thoroughly appropriate name for a barf bin.

1) Things are looking OK for this year's bonus [I'm not a banker and my bonus will not be more than many people earn in a year]
2) I was able to leave the office at 5pm yesterday! [are rare occurrence of late]
3) It's no longer pitch black at 5pm — bye-bye SAD
4) I've been asked to tormentor one of the grads joining our team next week
5) Our sector manager had a chat with me about 'succession planning' within the team and plans for my future development

Overall, I may finally be moving from :( / >:( toward  :), but there's still some way to go.

Rain and high winds dropped/stopped enough to get a decent test ride on new ICE 26", excellent   ;D
The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so sure of themselves, and wiser men so full of doubt.

[catches the thread just before it slips off page 1]

I went for a run today and my calf didnt hurt!  was out for 20 minutes, doing 2 mins jog and 2 mins walk and there was no pain at all!  My first run in 2 months, and only three months before my first triathlon of the year..

I promise I'lll be building it up very slowly and stopping each session **before** it goes again.

I should be back on my bike within 6 weeks!!!  ;D ;D ;D

I broke my wrist just before Christmas and have not been able to ride since,  but I saw the fracture specialist today. Everything is healing well and provided I am a good boy and do my exercises but don't put any strain on the wrist I should be back to my version of normal by the middle of March - which is a great relief as I have Paris-Brest qualifiers to ride!

Apart from the sheer awfulness of commuting into London by train, I have been amazed at how dispiriting it has been to be unable to ride at all.  Using a stationery bike has helped release a few endomorphins and (allegedly) helped me not to put on too much weight, but it just isn't the same buzz.

I am SO looking forward to getting back out on the road.

That's great news.  I know exactly how you feel on that.  I broke my wrist in November a couple of years ago, and, except for a few commutes on a borrowed recumbent trike, didn't ride for weeks.  It was awful.  Yehuda Moon has a perfect cartoon for this, which I hope I can find later.

Thanks.  Sadly won't be able to get along to the Lewisham Cyclists agm next week, even on the bus, but I hope to get involved and join some rides this year (say Hi to Roger - he may recall my bike treasure hunts around the City in the '90s).

My 17 year old son has managed to get himself a job finally, in the local garden centre  ;D
He will be commuting for his weekend shifts there by bike (his Kona Smoke hybrid). It is his first proper job and since he is in 6th form good workplace experience for him. I am especially pleased since he took the initiative to get it sorted out and even went there for an interview today after school without mentioning it to me first!
