As they say use your LBS or lose em, worth it obviously
                                    ;D
my back wheel was making some odd noises yesterday and even worse this morning, and I'm doing JOGLE in 3 weeks, so I took it along to my LBS to drop it off for some TLC.

He took it apart there & then, replaced one set of bearings and greased the rest, put it all back together and  - the best bit - refused to take any money for it!   So I bought him & his mate some coffee & cake from the cafe next door to say thanks.
The problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so sure of themselves, and wiser men so full of doubt.

MY LBS couldn't even work out that the chainline issue I had was down to a dished sprocket being on the "wrong" way.

Once upon a time I needed some chainring bolts in a hurry.  The chain came off on the way to work, on account of three bolts being missing and the other two far from tight.  The nearest approximation to a bike shop was the cycling section of the YHA shop in Covent Garden.  Nice Man behind the counter managed to find some suitable bolts, which he let me have for the princely sum of "one large bag of mint humbugs, to be delivered the next time you're passing".

Just waiting for bus after departing eye clinic at Wycombe General Hosp.

My vision is still improving after 6+ months and should continue to improve a little more. And all of this good news deduced without resorting to evil eye drops and ophthalmological torture instruments.

Still no idea why I suddenly lost a chunk of vision but the Opth Doc was helpfully philosophical - tis "one of those things"

Apart from a bit of time in waiting rooms I've been delighted with my care by the NHS. Why is Cameron trying to tinker with it FFS?

A rather arduous Board meeting and other work related stuff had me in a less that happy mood today... until our HR manager came around for a chat.  My employer has chosen Cycle Scheme!  Management has yet to finalise things, but this should be done "in a few weeks".  Yes, I've heard that line before, but this time I believe it.

I think tomorrow I will make a phone call to discuss the bike I'm considering and decide if I'll be booking a trip up North for a fitting, etc.

A great many places are Up North from where I currently live.  Like Mitcham ;D

But I'm wondering if Andrij's 'Up North' might be 'twixt Bradford & Leeds.  Hope so.

Above 53°N, but not between those two places.  More will be revealed after I've had a chat.

Enigma (Mark) say they'll definitely have my frame back to Hewitt's next week  ::-)

It's either going tomorrow for a Friday delivery or Friday for Saturday.
They're going to send me pictures tomorrow.

I thought I was driving to in-laws in Devon tomorrow evening for a long weekend, until Mrs Marco said "I have a surprise"... (significant birthday)

Mrs M & I are off to Munich tomorrow evening to see all three days of the first Rowing World Cup of the year!

I am so unbelievably unobservant - she's been planning for months.  ::-)   ;D

Oh, and Mrs M:   :-*

Hurrah!  After years of refusing to countenance it, my employer has finally announced that we're going to do the cycle to work scheme (via Evans, apparently).

n+1 awaits...
