Quite old too, so sad but not entirely shocking.
It is simpler than it looks.

No, totally expected, but nevertheless the end of an era.

I can't think of any job that I might do that I'd enjoy doing so much that I'd carry on into my 90s.

That's a shame, albeit unsurprising.

Blimey, I thought it surprising he was still going in the 1980s.

I remember him mostly for the Arthur Haynes Show: Haynes always pronounced his name as only just not nickel-arse

Will whoever gives the eulogy have just 60 seconds to do so, without hesitation, repetition or deviation?

Still working in his 90s.

He narrated the Rocky Horror Show when I saw it live in Brum 30 or more years ago.

Still working in his 90s.

What Wow said earlier applied to Les Paul, too, a jazz guitarist who died at the age of 94. He played at a club in New York every Monday evening right up to the week he died.

Pablo Casals also played his cello well into his 90s. Someone once asked him why he continued to practise so much at his great age, to which he replied "I think I am still improving."

I was very surprised to hear he worked in a shipyard in Clydebank !  Not the usual kind of character you'd expect to find there.

He was also a collector and restorer of clocks and watches (as in did the work himself not paid someone to do it for him). Was a member of the clock makers guild or whatever its called.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Late to this one, but very sad. He's been a part of my audio landscape for as long as I can remember. I listened to JaM with my parents probably from when it started.

The thing I find most extraordinary of all is that he didn't have the voice of a 96 year old. I want his larynx.
