Would this be acceptable on a motorway?
In mitigation, it's a rubbish gravel/mud Sustrans path that we use about once a year when it hasn't rained for a whole month.

Is that the section up to Cricklade?

"Thames Water to install new pipework" So it seems the council is allowing Thames Water an easy option of digging up a cycle route to install it's infrastructure - 'only cyclists'.

That's a pity. I don't use it often as it's not on my direct route, but it's a pleasant ride and unusually scenic for Swindon. Goes past the sewage works. It's not as if they couldn't dig their trench parallel to the cycle path - there's plenty of room - but obviously they prefer the easier access of the path.
Is Thamesdown Drive going to be closed for a year too?

POTD?

Will they surface it properly after they finish? Maybe it could be leveraged to make the path better?
