I ran a search on posting pics and there were literally thousands of hits.
Is there a section hidden in plain view that explains how to do this. As I do it so rarely I forget from year to year but I want to put up some photos of fungi.
Thanks

It's point 5 on that message. You do need to have the picture somewhere else on the net; you can't actually post pictures on YACF itself.
-
Ideally there should be a sticky somewhere....
First thing you need to host your pictures somewhere such as Flickr, Photobucket etc.. Personally I use post image.org which makes linking really easy.
If you let us know where your pictures are someone can help, but it will vary according to where they’re hosted
-
Photobucket doesn't work any more (unless you pay).
Probably easiest option is to use Imgur. It gives you the BBCode for the image, so you can just copy and paste that.
-
Similarly Flickr, easy to select bb code and image size.
-
I gave up on Flickr as I couldn’t easily copy the url when using my iPad whereas Postimage has an icon that copies the BB code directly to the clipboard without having to select it.
-
I see you have a Flickr account, PH, so:
- Upload your image to Flickr
- Open the image's page (click on the image in your Flickr photostream)
- Click on Share Photo (curved arrow icon)
- Choose BBCode
- Choose the size you want to share (try a medium one for YACF)
- Copy the code (starts with [url)
- Paste into your YACF post window
-
Thanks everyone and why on earth is this info not available as a sticky please?
spent an hour trawling around.

Stickied now, after being moved to Phototalk.
Photo hosting sites change their rules quite frequently so it can be difficult to remain abreast of latest developments.

Many thanks.

Sorry Mrs P no longer seems to work. That icon is no longer there that I can find.

Here it is...
(https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1978/44594081474_6fa089fcfb_z.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/2aWCjMG)
Flickr_Share (https://flic.kr/p/2aWCjMG) by Ron Lowe (https://www.flickr.com/photos/62966413@N04/), on Flickr
Click it, and select BBcode in the list of options.
Select Medium in the drop-down.
Click in the box of text which contans the generated BBcode,it will turn blue.
Press Ctrl-C to copy the highlighted text.
Thusly:

Flickr_Share1 (https://flic.kr/p/PUtSQ3) by Ron Lowe (https://www.flickr.com/photos/62966413@N04/), on Flickr
Click into your post on yacf, and press ctrl-V to paste the BBcode into your post.
This will post something like this into your message:
[url=https://flic.kr/p/PUtSQ3][img]https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1941/31442664898_0e90d4a5bb_z.jpg[/img][/url][url=https://flic.kr/p/PUtSQ3]Flickr_Share1[/url] by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/62966413@N04/]Ron Lowe[/url], on Flickr
The forum code will automagically parse that out and display the image.

Many many thanks. That is an excellent explanation.

I use Dropbox since Photobucket went pear shaped
1. right-click on the image file in Dropbox and "copy Dropbox link"
2. Paste into your post as
https://www.dropbox.com/s/omvf8xri1n5ztwe/0_bike_ride_map.jpg?dl=0
3. Either change "www" to "dl" OR change "dl=0" to "raw=1"
(Dropbox only)
4. Highlight the whole link and click the "Insert image" button
This gives something like this:
[img]https://dl.dropbox.com/s/omvf8xri1n5ztwe/0_bike_ride_map.jpg?dl=0[/img]
which shows in the post as:
