Sounds interesting, is the following interpretation correct? the same overnight controls will have food provided

The actual controls will be in different locations but overall the route is the same. And yes no indoor facilities at the mo unless anything changes. Public toilets will be identified.

**UPDATE**

Assuming the event is able to run all those that have pre-booked are guaranteed a place. Uptake has been good.

There will come a time when booking doesn't guarantee a place but you will be added to a waiting list on a first come first served basis.

Not for me this year but if Bristol is accessible for you I'd recommend this as a cracking ride. Last year. the section from Cheddar to the final control was a bit of a mud bath so if you don't fancy getting your bike mucky it might be worth plotting an alternative route along the roads, which won't add too much to the distance.

To all those that have booked an email has just gone out through Mailchimp with details about date delays.

For the sideline spectators I have 3 options: 4/5th Dec; 29/30th Jan; 26/27th Feb. Bookings are still open for the waiting list, spaces may become available should the first bookers be unavailable on the subsequent date. Please follow www.gwraudax.co.uk/ms300

Quick thing about the 4/5th Dec - this is only going to be viable if there is clear evidence a couple of weeks before that Lockdown 2.2 won't be implemented at 00:01 on December 3rd and also that AUK's validation of 300+ will come into play with immediate effect.

The rate of change in several of the counties the route passes through is increasing. Therefore I feel it pertinent to delay until at least 29/30th January. Email via MailChimp sent.

What's the date of the latest information you are looking at? The only data I can see which breaks into down to county level is week ending 12th November, which is too soon to see the effect of lockdown.

Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset & Somerset's rate of change over the last 2 weeks has been going up; a couple from being on the fall.

Read into how you like. There are uncertainties and these out weigh the time I'm going to need to do the final preparation and the commitment of volunteers with the possibility of cancelling a day before the event; not to mention the inconvenience for riders not knowing.

That's fair. I'm quite happy with the delay anyway, and no one wants it to be cancelled with less than a weeks notice.

!! UPDATE 3 !!

It is only pertinent to scrap this season's running of the event. January is a no go. February, even if restrictions lifted for event, will be too close to call and likely involve large swathes of those entered being restricted as more than likely we'll be in tiers again if not further lockdown.

Next season's planned date 19/20 Nov.

They are. But this will remain a winter only. Something otherworldly cycling through a long night.

Sunseekers & Moonrakers perm was tested last year, I'll chase John up to sign off, he was away at time of submission and I got side tracked.

Have just been looking at that (perm) event and looks great. Something for me to aim at for this year as it has been a few years since I rode anything longer than a 200k. Looks to be a totally different route from the calendar version and anti-clockwise as well?

Looks like a good ride. I like the short section north of Wimborne.
If Lulworth ranges are not open, the diversion via East Holme and Stowborough is a couple of k longer but less climb. But riding over the Purbeck Ridge up Whiteway Hill is magnificent, and enough to bring tears to one's eyes, literally: on the descent.
You may wish to consider recommending a route which takes in a bit of the Fosse Way (just N of the M4) on the way SW from Malmesbury, but I guess it wouldn't be as attractive in failing light. Distance is exactly the same. I've ridden that mile long section twice on calendar rides (by choice rather than the advisory route - was faster).
Do you think your perm is just as good clockwise?

Other than passing Sunseekers Yachts in Poole & The Crammer for the Moonrakers in Devizes you are correct.

It has been planned as CCW with a morning start as Sunseekers & Moonrakers. Also for the Sandbanks Ferry and later main road through Devizes being at a quieter time. If going CW the wooded uphill onto the Plain going south on A390 from W. Lavington isn't what I'd choose to do. But it would be possible to fork left off the A390 to Market Lavington and then Lavington Hill to the Plain's perimeter path and rejoin the A390 at Gore Cross to avoid.

Yeah the bit north of Wimborne was fantastic, including the later cover photo which was a new bit of Cranborne Chase for me. I have a thing for unfenced tree avenues...
Fosse Way is fun, did it all from The Gibb to Cotswold Airport over the summer on fixed

I'll leave that for riders to choose for themselves; there's an old byway just before Burton so I get the final laugh
