Last Garden Party I went to they didn't have hand driers.  Just rather nice paper towels.

In a follow up, two of the staff from the college, Manor Green in Crawley, who made it all happen, went to a Garden Party at Buck House t'other day, in recognition of the hard work they put in. Hurrah.
Excellent, but what were the hand driers like?

It was their day off...

The fireplace was removed, the decorator's been and today the new carpets were laid so we can put everything back in the right place in the lounge and hall instead of the whole house being turned upside down.
And we go on holiday for the rest of the month on Thursday.

(Still have to pack, boo)
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

My formerly very troubled, troublesome, drug-addled son has now been clean and sober for 18 months. I was at a family gathering earlier today and he was actively participating in the event and enjoying himself. It's hard to describe the relief and pride I have in this achievement of his, especially now he is secretary of his CA branch and mentoring others through the programme. Whatever else he goes on to do in life, this will be one of his greatest achievements.

That is very good news, I remember your angst and struggles with his previous behaviour and choices. Long may he hold this path.

I am so pleased to hear CAMRAMan Jr is still on a happier/better path in life. I hope this continues always. It is lovely to hear how well he is doing when I know it was a very worrying time before.

Yes, very good news. Some hard work behind that I reckon, very well done.

Thank you all for your kind words. My role was peripheral. All the hard work was his. Mind you, the Sunday before Christmas 2022, when I had him in bed next to me spasming every 5 minutes in psychosis to the point he was so sweaty I thought he'd wet the bed, was not something I'd care to repeat.

I don't think you role was in any way peripheral, your determination to produce a positive outcome for your son has been the central thread through all this, you should not play that down.

Yes, your son has put in the hard work to get to this point, but your support has absolutely enabled this

I agree with Ely Dave, Camraman you kept hope and supported your son to get where he is now and encouraged focus on the future not resentment about the past (which is rarer than you may realise).

Glad to hear your news, Camraman! I recall how concerning it all was a few years ago.

My good news is that I've just signed up for a summer school at Keele University.

We're off on holiday - a week chilling in the north of Croatia.   Night time temperature 25°C! Day time temperatures in the 30s.

Good books packed (thank the Lord for Bernard Cornwell).
