When I first started watching rugby, in the mid-1960s, London Welsh were one of the top clubs in the UK - indeed, for some years, coinciding with the Welsh side which dominated the 5 nations throughout the 1970s, I think they had no equals. Now they are no longer in the professional game.

In this list (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Welsh_RFC#Notable_former_players), the 7 selected for the Lions in 1971 were part of the team that beat New Zealand.

Over extended themselves financially during their foray into Premiership rugby, with unfortunate results.

They've gone the same way as Richmond and London Scottish.

My understanding is that the amateur team will continue as "London Welsh", they currently play in Herts/Middlesex league 1.
