Garmin maptile down load - How long?

Downloading the maptiles with routing data from two Garmin products to my GPS. Building the routing index tookabout 90 minutes. The actual download is predicted to take 2.5 hours. That's with my clockwork computer running 50~100%. Don't remember it taking so long last time. Maybe something is getting in the way.

Assuming its a Garmin with a memory card: take the memory card out, and put it in a separate USB card reader (preferably one that supports USB 2.0).
It will probably be much faster.
