Very fluffy.

I know Talisker hunts, and succeeds, but I've only ever once seen him with anything.  That was one afternoon when it suddenly started to rain, and there was thud-a-thud-a-thud as the cat flap went at some speed, and Talisker appeared with a mouth full of something, saw that the house wasn't unoccupied, and immediately turned and went back out again.

He has also been seen with a squirrel by others, and there have been occasional amounts of feathers in the back garden indicating the demise of something that once flew.

42 confirmed isn't bad, but does have a way to go to catch up with the world record holder, which was for over 3 mice a day (plus other beasties) on average, for almost 24 years. :o

Talisker being disdainful about n+1, although I think it's mainly because he wandered out to see what I was doing, and has just realised how wet it actually is!

Sadly Tim, there was also a 'robin' to add to the list from last week, but fortunately it's mice that seems to occupy her.

That is quite remarkable for a cat, especially one in an urban environment where it can't get a squirrel some distance from the nearest tree etc.

...and this was only a short while before he was started on the Hyperthyroidism therapy, so was underweight, suffering from a heart murmer, and gods know what else probably making him feel ill.

Now he's back on form, the local rodent and bird population is possibly in for a hard time. :-\

A couple of years ago, I saw a bush thrashing about in the Garden. Then Spyro emerged at high speed with squirrel in his mouth. I went out in a rescue attempt, and he dropped the squirrel - who then bled to death from his throat while I watched.

He'll play with little stuff - something bigger that can fight back gets its throat bit - hard!

I found a dead rat in the garden on Sunday - not sure if Spyro had it, or if it just died there. The "just died" theory sounds unlikely though.

I can't imagine the pandemonium that'll take place if he ever manages to get a live rat into the house. The girly screeching that goes on when he brings a mouse in is bad enough.

Could I just mention: Tiggy. 42 confirmed kills. Yes that's right… 42 mice in the last two years.

He's not quite as prolific as Towser.

Easy, you just chuck them onto a set of scales, and when it reaches half a tonne, you've got 30000 mice (assuming an average weight of 17g).

;D

I had to post this, since it made me chuckle.  Talisker is basically on guard duty.  I've noticed that other cats will squirm under the side gate and wander past the house to get to the back gardens.  Talisker has obviously noticed this as well, and this is the first time I've seen him perched here, where he can obviously spot them, and launch an attack!

Awesome!

Sgt Talisker at his post: alert, ears pointing in the right direction, not smoking on duty, good use of cover, good field of vision - top marks!

Nah, he needs something a bit more formal, how about a guard box like this:

I don't think he's going to like the uniform though, and to be fair, he doesn't really need a Bearskin, he's already black and fluffy. ;D

Hang on, are those the same kittens? ;D

The top picture seems to show one black and ginger, and the other brownish.  Whereas the bottom shot has two all gingers, one black & white, and one grey.

Am I getting the colours mixed around (like the kittens!) in the top shot?

They are the same kittens, the colours in the top picture are not very good.

Talisker, two or three years ago, when he was on holiday at a previous Chez TimO, before I took him on full time, and before he got seriously into running up bills at the vets.

Doesn't that tummy just need to be tickled!

How do cats lie like that, don't they have backbones? ;D
