I have to go and get some new tyres for the car on Saturday morning and, looking at the start time you'll have been and gone from Hungerford by midday (barring fierce headwinds, which aren't forecast).  Is the Tutti Pole a control?

When I did this ride 2 years ago I think it was between 1.30 and 2 that I left Hungerford. I didn't arrive back at C St P until about 9.40.

Most people seem to come through between 12 and 2:30, I think

I've noticed this.  All the skinny cyclists, riding bikes made out of Area-51 'Black Projects' materials, get the cakes best suited (and appreciated) by the people like me who arrive 2 hours later when they've all gone.

Tales from the Finish Control, Chapter 37:

...
I once had a load of city creative types turn up on the line for one of my humble events. £20 notes were proffered, a certain sniffiness about the facilities evinced, and off they went leaving a carpark full of fast cars, and plastic girlfriends or partners wondering what to do all day in a rural Devonshire town.
...

Actually £20 sounds fair to look after a fast car and faster girlfriend for the day. Assuming the tank was full.

I'm beginning to wish I were controlling on this again.

I might ride over to 'ungerford  for a sociable cup of tea - I have to be in Lambourn that evening anyway.
You could compares socks with Iddu...

One wants to be flexible but the organiser definately prefers entries in advance. For example, it will make it easier to send a list of starters to our Hungerford controller(s). AUKs have the option to enter online using the Paypal link on the calendar event entry. Non-Auks can pm or email me (my address is on the AUK calendar entry) and I''ll forward details of how to pay by Paypal directly. Failing that, get your entry in the post tomorrow!

Start is 7.30, I think it's roughly 100k to Hungerford so that's less than 14mph.  And there will be wind assistance; you should average 18mph if you're fit

You should be there and gone by 11.30 or you're a bunch of girls  ;)

Most of the girls I know on this ride may well be gone from Hungerford by 11.30, whether or not they ride in a bunch. I, however, will be more sedate.

Hmm... Tutti Pole. I'm guessing the Good Dr C won't be on duty this year, on account of him living in fo'rn parts these days...

Screw 'em over then - cake reservations by request  ;)

I'm waiting to see whether I'm up to it on Saturday, so i could be an entry on the line.  Just fitting mudguards to my new bike just in case.

Should we all be wearing badges with forum names on? Failing that, it's bike-spotting.

On the Little event, a Blue Mercian or maybe a light blue Dawes if I go for the lighter machine and tyres...
