Good Omens starts on Amazon Prime on Friday :)
Not getting a fantastic review in the Guardian today....

Miss von Brandenburg has been consistently refusing to watch it ever since the project was announced, and doubly so since David Tennant, great ham that he be, was confirmed in the part of Crowley.  I revisited the wireless series recently, which was a Thing of Splendid.

Ronin on ITV4. Now. Top de Niro action. With French accents.

Watched the end of Chernobyl tonight. A truly fantastic series about frightning events and mind numbing attitudes.

If this doesn't get awards, there is no justice in the industry.

That's one of my favourite films!
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Agreed.

For those of you, like me, who want to know, amongst other things, how much was 'real' and how much was dramatic licence, there is a series of 5 podcasts (to accompany the 5 episodes) where the writer/creator Craig Mazin is interviewed.

YouTube link here, or downloadable from your favourite etc etc.

Craig Mazin posted a couple of threads to his Twitter feed on useful background reading and viewing material:

Filmography thread: https://twitter.com/clmazin/status/1135800424173252610

The scripts can be found at the following link, though Mazin says it's best if you don't read them until after you have watched the show:

I reckon the first series, while brilliant, was about two episodes too long, so I have relatively low expectations for the second.

Last Breath on iPlayer at the moment.  Quietly gripping and terrifying.  Like all of the Storyville productions, it's brilliant television.

So that's you lot here going on about Chernobyl, everyone in the pub on Wednesday going on about Chernobyl, and m'colleagues also going on about Chernobyl at work yesterday...

Probably better watch it, hadn't I?

I watched the first three parts of it last night.  Spectacular piece of television, if difficult to watch in places.  It's not quite Threads for the noughties, but the comparison is reasonable.

I would love to see Chernobyl as the reviews are great, but I have no idea how to. I’m living in Germany and have Amazon Prime but it’s not on that. Maybe they will release it on DVD sometime, I think I have a DVD player in a drawer somewhere.

Putin’s Media Struggle to Deal With HBO’s Chernobyl

The Kremlin is producing it's own series, including showing the accident was caused by Aliens! the CIA. ::-)

Hang on a mo... I realise that the targets for such bullpucky are in a mostly-closed information environment, but isn't saying that Chernobyl blowing up was due to foreign sabotage a bit of a hilarious self-own because it implies that Soviet counter-intelligence wasn't good enough to catch the perp before they infiltrated the workforce at the power plant?  ;D

Well, as a non TV watcher, it takes me a little while to join in.  I'm sure there's been much previous discussion which I'm not going to be bothered to look for.

I watched S1 E1 of Killing Eve tonight.  Very good.
It's possible I may watch a few more.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Hmm,we felt Spiral had just about completed the circuit up its own behind during the last series. We’ll give it a go I guess,  but may not stick with it.

This week on ITV4, Dauphine and the OVO women’s tour.

Actually, Sheen and Tennant were some of the best parts of the series. Sheen was given the best lines.
It is ok. Doesn't translate to the screen brilliantly.

Anyone watching Gentleman Jack? You can't really go wrong with the wonderful Suranne Jones, but this goes down some unusual avenues.

I was a bit worried by the end of this week's - there is a suggestion of a huge overlap with Killing Eve territory!
