San Marino is an odd one, not sure how/why Flo Rida got involved.

When did San Marino get moved to the Balkans?
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I suppose it's the only way they'll find anywhere big enough to host it if they win.

In the idiotic "let's break stuff" spirit of the Brexit referendum, I voted for Germany.

To be fair, the UK performance was probably the worst of the night.

The winners sounded a lot like The Young Gods, I thought.  More post-punk than heavy metal.

I watched the whole show. There were, for a change, some good songs in there. Whatever the politics, the UK’s song was not one of them and did not deserve to do well - though it probably deserved to do better than Germany. Just. Given that James Newman has won a Brit and been nominated for two Grammys for his songwriting (but not so much his singing!), it was a notably weak song.

What a difference 24 years make!  Watched some YouTube footage of Katrina and the Waves from 97 and it’s striking how different Eurovision was, even then.  No pyrotechnics or big staging or skimpy outfits or fancy choreography or eccentricity, just an honest-to-goodness good song....

I was amazed at how many people it took to "compose" some of the really duff ones. 10 people to wrote the San Marino entry?

And they had a ringer on board.  We should have hired Dr Dre or Jay-Z to fo a verse for us.

Well, Katrina isn’t exactly a Brit. :-\

Interestingly, I learned yesterday that Luxembourg have won five times, but never with a Luxembourgish singer (4x French and 1x Greek).

Bucks Fizz’s skirt tearing must surely count as at least one of those? ;)

I quite liked the lights / projections from what I saw of it. I managed to miss our entry though.

The last time I watched it before this year was in 2014.  Hard to top Conchita Wurst for pure Eurovision kitsch, although they had a go with the very tall and very tattooed Nikkie de Jager presenting.

True, but the song was written by Waves guitarist Kimberley Rew, from BRITAIN's famous Cambridge.  Who declined to have anything to do with the Eurovision nonse.  The song was originally written as an anthem for the Samaritans and hadn’t been recorded because the band considered it “too cheesy”.

She's a giant ! Nikkie made the other presenters look tiny.

The Times on Saturday (which I have just read) tipped Italy to win, and the UK to get Nul Points.
It is simpler than it looks.
