Another latecomer to 'The End of the F***ing World' party here, am liking it.

Ooh I keep meaning to watch that.
It's really  F***ing good!!! I didn't really have a clue what was going on, due to:
- missing Series1 (the recap was almost damaging)
- our wobbly old Humax eating loads of key dialogue,
- multiple flashbacks, and
- despite being set in the UK (possibly Scotland??), it is stylistically 100% in the footsteps of recent US productions. Which messed with my head.

Not sure if the latter is because of the Netflix/US cash, or because the makers are fans of Fargo and Wes Anderson films. I see no harm in more telly being like this

We will hopefully watch right from the beginning one day - something to look forward to...

I dunno about s2 being as we are watching s1 just now, which definitely not in Scotland.
I noted to Pingu in episode 1 how the housing estates looked more USanian in feel than UK.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

There seem to be a lot of scenes in "diners". I've only ever eaten in one such in the UK.

(apparently they filmed a lot on the Isle of Sheppey. Most english islands are pretty odd places)

The Witcher. I really like it it.  They took Geralt from the games and placed him into the world of the books.

Astonishing telly. Cold, dark and brutal but full of desperate humanity. I think it should be on a syllabus, but I don’t know which one. Maybe all of them.

Will now have to google the cast to identify Chris Packham.
What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

it was in the voice and mannerisms of one of the main characters, you wouldn't see it in a still picture .... I could only get a half hearted agreement from the wife, so may be its just me?

Our Christmas viewing consistent of "The Rise Of The Nazis" (recorded) and "Father Ted" (DVD).  When Missis Kwin briefly appeared there was a chorus of "we doan wanna see THAT nonse" and a rapid switching-off.

This Unit has finally started watching Good Omens and has to confess that it is a pleasantly surprised Unit.  Not sure I entirely approve of turning Anathema into wot the vulgar call a yank hem hem but David Tennant is, for once, not actually playing David Tennant.  And Ollie, as Dog, is æxcellent.

Get Carter, the proper one, is o n ITV4 right now. So I've missed a  hour, never mind.

I've enjoyed Dracula very much. I do find that Moffat TV tends to be a bit convoluted but it's a well made show for sure. You can really tell that every man in the acting trade sees Dracula as the best role in film making.

I've discovered a rather odd program on BBC iPlayer called The Mallorca Files. It's a budget, package holiday version of Death in Paradise but with fewer deaths. The uptight British police officer is a woman and the local comedy sidekick is German for some reason. The grumpy police chief is a feisty Spanish woman. The plots are a bit thin but it's a good opportunity to spot places I've been to on Cycling trips to Mallorca as its not that big an island with plenty of beautiful scenery. So far we've had the clichés of British crooks on the run, Russian oligarchs on yachts, supermodels lounging by the pool and elderly locals whinging about foreign incomers but the best episode was about cycling.

It featured a (fictional) Giro winner and Tour de France hopeful who is kidnapped just before the Mallorca Challenge (a real race). Ignoring the usual common misconceptions about cycle sport spouted by various characters, it would appear that the kidnapped cyclist was actually a dope cheat and his way of avoiding detection was a brilliant one that not even Lance Armstrong could have thought of. The episode ended with the two police officers racing each other up Sa Calobra.

Loving the first hour

And why no Doctor Who chat - it wasn't too bad I thought?!?

And Detectorists Scare Crows I mean Worzel Gummidge - did no-one else watch this little gentle gem?

Am I allowed to say it's been a great year for festive telly? Or will there be a Grinch Lynch??

Another vote for Worzel Gummidge.  One episode includes the best surreal scarecrow joke ever.

Forgive me if it's already been mentioned, but gotta say, I'm really rather enjoying 'The Trial of Christine Keeler' at the moment. Class, politics, power, race, jealousy, loss and abandonment....it's all going on. As the Guardian so succinctly said - it's a story that just keeps on giving.

Mrs L and I watched the first half hour of Dracula the other evening, then looked at each other and said "is this really the kind of thing we want to be watching before bedtime?"  It was good, but I'm not sure I was up for another 4 hours of that kind of tension!

In lighter news, The Great Pottery Throw Down is back, this time on More4.
