Maori Songs - Kiri te Kanawa, in particular Hine e hine which was played at my father's funeral.

Songs for Grown-Ups - Paddy Roberts.  This reminds me of the stories of my parents' time in Africa.

4) It Bites - It Bites

It Bites! Jeez.
OMG! As in Calling All The Heroes? I'd always imagined that was a 1 hit wonder....

I'm probably not really old enough to have many 'always been' albums but so far I would list:

Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
Neil Young - Greendale & On the Beach
REM - Automatic For The People
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
Crowded House - Temple Of Low Men
Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen
and maybe
The Pretenders - Get Close
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

OMG.

Cath, thank you.  How on earth did I fail to mention "Hounds of Love"?  Particularly as I listened to it again yesterday. (Admittedly, after my O.P. , but still?  ::-)

Might have to add Marianne Faithful's "Broken English" too.  (Not sure if it totally fits the criteria though - I didn't mean this to be a thread of long lists of albums that are simply liked.)
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

I have to agree with you on 'Solid Air', I might assemble all my Audax cimbing shots and edit them to 'Over the Hill',  any reference to the average age of the participants purely accidental  ;)
On Emiliana Torrini, I prefer 'Fisherman's Woman', to 'Love in a time of science,'  I've used 'Sunny Road' as a backing a couple of times.

:D  You're welcome.  It always amazes me when other people mention this album - it's so out there and is so personal that I somehow find it hard to imagine that it is listened to by other people.  I mean, can you imagine "Dream Of Sheep" saying as much to anyone else as it does to you?

Fishermans Blues - The Waterboys
Joe's Garage (Acts 1, 2 & 3) - Frank Zappa
The Yes Album - Yes
Get Your Ya-Yas Out - The Rolling Stones
