Finally caught up with this. Took a few episodes to get going, but it's pretty good now!

The Stieg Larsson Dragon Tattoo books are translated poorly IMO. Some of the adjectives in English are much more flowery than the intended meaning in Swedish. I know English has a much richer vocabulary, but it's like the translator wanted to prove this when working. WhyTF they translated Män som Hatar Kvinnor (Men who hate women) as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I'll never know.

They managed again to create a horrific set up, in a way such that I was quite ok about suspending a huge chunk of disbelief. Sorry it's over.

So,on to the conjecture for the next series - Martin didn't kill Jens but may have provided the means for him to end himself?
And surely, eventually, martin and saga will find themselves holding hands and jumping from the bridge...

The cliffhanger is who killed Gertrud, the mad chemist. I think that Rasmus will return as Saga's partner in the next series. Martin quite obviously if off the scene.

Not as good as the first series, and the Jens red herring was poorly set up, IMO.

Well, that was a bit grim, again!
I await the barely credible explanation in the next series..... meanwhile, what the hell am I going to watch noo?
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Eurgh, what a sucky ending. Did he really have to kill Jens?.
Kim (Martin) said he would be back for season3 and they'll need a Danish counterpart for Saga, so it's definitely not Rasmus.
Oh and poor Saga.

Salamander, starting next week in the same slot, looks good. Belgian, so slightly different. (Last Belgian crime drama I saw a few years ago was very good but I can't even remember now what it was called.)

Starting on 22nd Feb is True Detective. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, but don't let that put you off.

Looking ahead, there's also Arvingerne (The Legacy) from DR (producers of Forbrydelsen and Borgen), coming in the autumn. From the press release:

"Following the death of progressive internationally-renowned artist Veronika Grønnegaard, The Legacy traces the story of Veronika’s four adult children, whose distinctive upbringing has affected their lives in very different ways. The division of Veronika’s estate marks the beginning of a journey into a complex set of secrets and lies for her four children. The series paints a portrait of a Danish family and their children, coming to terms with the challenges of change and the traces of violent upheaval from their past."

Sky Arts also has the Spanish drama Gran Hotel on at the moment, which I've not seen yet but is supposed to be very good. It's about halfway through series two already but it's all available On Demand.

Just did a bit of googling... The Belgian crime drama I saw "a few" years ago (2005!) was Matrioshki. Very good. If it ever comes on telly again, I recommend it.

I thought it was uneven compared to the first series - excellent in parts, even better than the first series in some respects, but a bit clunky in others.

Ultimately a few too many false leads and loose ends for my liking, but still easily the best thing that's been on telly so far this year.

Yes, of course. Silly me! I did like the way Saga was shown to have feelings when her boyfriend walked out on her. I wonder if we'll find out more about her sister's demise in the next series?

My prediction also.  Though my track record is poor.

For those who wants to see more of Sofia Helin, "Arn" is a really good series

(Watch the series, not the movie)

Well, the movie was on Netflix, so I watched that, in batches. Thanks for the link.
Always been in awe at the idea of the crusades ( not the purpose, but the willingness/ability of many to travel distances surely beyond their ken for the sake of an ideal. Bonkers.)
Anyways, it was interesting to see that Saga's olde worlde father in law was also a cop, albeit from the Arne Dahl series.

I recently read that the translator normally takes about six months to do a book that size, but in this case he did all three in under a year.  It shows.  I've read other books by the same translator and they are much less sucky.

Random factoid. The scar on Sofia Helin's face was received in a bicycle accident.

I think I must have fallen asleep about a third of the way through S1, coz I don't remember much after Sonja was fished out of a puddle by Mr 70s Porn Star and as a result didn't see any of S2.  I've just watched 'em both and have to say that Sofia Helin raises "swivel-eyed loon" to a height that Claire Danes can only dream about.  Also, never trust a bloke with a black rollneck jumper and horn-rimmed glasses unless he's Michael Caine.

S3 is underway but will not have Martin.  In it.  Tonight's offering is Israeli wossname "Hostages" which leads to a dilemma: watch it because it's in the BBC4 subtitled thriller slot or boycott it for being Israeli?

I think wossername without Martin could be ...  a bit too much!

I'm not interested in Boycotts of Arts or Sports (what have the actors done wrong),  but my dilemma about Hostages is worse: we're still traumatised from the US Toni Collette version :(
