I missed the Compasses one as I was taking a trip to see the crumblies back up North.... Viper sounds more inviting than Witham, but Witham easier to get drunkenly back from..... decisions decisions!

Well done on the brevets huggy and I'm looking forward to seeing websites and jerseys. We are away this weekend so no beer festivals for me.

I did 40 miles yesterday to and from ted's. The sailing went very well. Not heard where we came as the results weren't available when I left to ride home but I expect we were mid-fleet and ted was delighted to beat his arch rival for the first time. It was a tad warm but I don't mind as the weather will turn shite again soon - remember that evening in January when we went to The Cats and it was minus 5?

I know that forward planning is not favoured but I was wondering in a trip to the White Hart at Mountnessing Tye might be on the cards, in the not too distant future 😳

^ Ok  Margaretting Tye, right?

I'll be there with the 'normous bundle of jerseys: it's slowly getting smaller.

I'll likely make my own way there with a possible interception.

Looks like that's the plan then.  Since we've been before I already have A ROUTE to offer the Witham peloton.

Sounds like a plan. I'll either come to Witham first or go direct. Not sure yet...
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Also - advanced forward planning for Wed 7th Sept.  The Woolpack Chelmsford has its "CAMRA" pre-tasting evening for their September beer festival on again...

There's some new bike stands ops the pub too as part of the new development of the old Marconi building.

I've just arranged to work from home tomorrow so I am going to put together a COR/Gravel heavy route to get to the pub.

If anyone fancies and adventure let me know. I will be passing through Hoe Mill lock on the way.

What sort of bike are you fitting these tyres on Tippers? Any pics?

Its one of those Cross of Iron jobbies.  tippers lets himself down by not having a Surly in his stable, not like us bloomers  :smug: O:-)

he'll learn son, he'll learn

Surly No.4 heading this way. watch this space......probably be getting rid of the Steamroller though to make space. Just not in love with it or this fixed wheel lark.

Anything happening Wednesday? May be making the effort to get out.

Its the White Hart Chris. I was thinking the same, about coming out, to the pub, not the binning of the fixie. What size is your steamroller?

'Roller is either 58 or 59. Can't quite remember. Feels just a smidge too large for me and never been able to get it quite right. Also no gears is a bit of a turn off these days.

Absolutely.  As of late all decent mid-Essex cycling endeavours seem to start from the Spa Road roundabout.  Its our equivalent of Cape Canaveral ... "To the stars and beyond!" (via The Mighty North Hill)  ;D

I'm loving all this advance planning. With a fair wind I may be able to make both this week and next.

In the beginning we used to work out a program of rides weeks in advance and publish them on this thread. I think we should start doing it again.

Here is my planned route (outwards).....including a bridleway ascent of TMNH....I suspect I might end up covered in Nettle stings and bramble scratches!
