Please keep us updated on entry procedure etc. as this ride does appeal.
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I'm with Marcus on this, keep us updated - It's too early to know what I'd be wanting to do next year but if I did want to ride a long Audax then I'd likely go for something like this one!

Do you know any more about Audax's in Deutschland? I'd love to ride an SR series mde up entirely of European audax's!

German information about Audax is found here: http://www.audax-randonneure.de/
But... last time HBKH wasnt an ACP homologated ride iirc.
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. It has been too many days since I have ridden through the night with a brevet card in my pocket...

Also had my eye on this since Salvatore's first report a few years ago. So colour me interested.

Maybe 2014 will be the year I brush off my A level equivalent German.  With new vocabulary, like "Shitstorm"  ;D

Another interested party here and like others, introduced to the idea via Salvatore (in 2007).

This is the organiser's site: http://www.audaxclub-sh.de/node/513

Too early to register, this is the 2010 registration page:
http://www.audaxclub-sh.de/node/228

Last time the deadline for registrations was 6 weeks before the ride but be aware of the 150 rider limit (twice the 2010 figure).

The information about the Fleche Allemagne on the German Audax site is interesting:
Biannual and the next one is in 2014: http://www.audax-randonneure.de/index.php?id=193
They also start on a religious holiday (with a Lutheran finish) but Ascension Day, which should be nicer than recent Good Fridays.
52 teams took part in 2010 and added lots of colour to the map:
https://maps.google.de/maps?q=http://christoph-moder.de/hobbies/fahrrad/brevets/karte_fleche-2010_route_kontrollpunkte.kmz%3Ft%3D1274654392

Anybody interested? It's authorised by Audax Club Parisien. The rules are mostly familiar, a few more about lights and hi-viz and a 9:00 start. Three riders of a team have to finish within 24 hours but additional riders who arrive in the next hour still get validated.

Acts 1:3
To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God

39 days after Easter Sunday, i.e. always on a Thursday (so don't expect too many people in the office on the Friday).
A late Easter next year so ascension day it at the end of May: 29/5/2014

Ascension Day doesn't mean routes have to qualify for AAA points.

I am planning to ride this one and then stay on for a couple of weeks camping with the family, possibly in Denmark as it's not far from Hamburg and we've not been there yet.

I plan to drive to the start in my van. Then my wife and daughters will fly out to meet me after the ride, like they did last year after the Bavarian 1200. I should have room in my van for some passengers and bikes on the way there, but they would have to make their own way back as I will have the family with me for the return journey.

This is rapidly approaching.

I'm not riding it but will be helping at Schloss Rösrath (Köln) for the time that we are open (Saturday 10 to Tuesday 12 August).

If any of you are passing through do say hello - I will be the Englishwoman with the dog.

Was looking forward to this, a first trip to Germany since 1981, and what looks like a good ride.  However, RL has forced me to DNS.  I hope all riders have a great time.

Made the acquaintance of you and your canine at Great Easton last year, sorry I can't make it two years on the trot.

What bike have you decided to take, Lordster?

And to get to the control you'll ride through this arch:

Got the first class ICE train tickets booked from Denmark. £50 each way with push bike in bag, bargain !!

I'll be the one with the kitchen sink plus shiny cup and Hawaii flip flops hanging off the back of his pushbike. Got to keep up appearances you know, so wave and have a laugh at my expense.

See you there.

8 years ago I came across Trevor Woodmore looking lost near the park in which the Schloss stands. For half an hour he'd been looking for a signpost to somewhere called 'Bushaltestelle'.

I'm now in northern Poland so  I should reach Grosshansdorf in plenty of time. I actually do have a kitchen sink with me.

This is a bit weird as it says the Brevet is run under RM rules, http://www.audaxclub-sh.de/files/2014-Super-Brevet_Englisch.pdf

But it's not Homologated by LRM, anybody know what the score is, I don't see why it would mention RM rules and not be homologated ?

Is there some kind of daft politics going on and what use are the points if they don't count for anything?

Yours, Confused of Jutland.

For those who are interested, the route sheet and final GPX track are now up on the ACSH website.

http://www.audaxclub-sh.de/node/586

It's the king of route sheets too, so worth having a look even if you aren't doing the ride.

As per Salvetory, daft politics. However the daftness is long standing and is going to remain for the foreseeable future. So, if you want to claim points just scan your completed / validated brevet card and email it to the recorder. All should be well as both the AUK rides in 2006 and 2010 were recognized on AUK records of the riders involved. HK

Perhaps I'm being stupid (often done), but where is the link within the page to the route sheet and GPX.  I can see the 2010 version, is that it?

GPX and PDF routesheet links at the bottom of the page.
Missing subtitles:
Schwimmbad: Swimming pool
Feuerwehr: Fire station

Let me know if you need help translating the overview of the route, it contains a few details about controls and what profile to expect on each stage. Petersborn (Schützenhaus) über Kreuztal(km 101) bis Rösrath (Schloss Eulenbroich) ca. 195 km is the toughest stage.

Bugloss, I actually helped to collate all the points for the Uk entrants with the help of AUK. I also sorted all the money and entrys out, but we now live in France so won't be able to do so. My oh rode the 1st two HBK. You will enjoy the route and the wonderful food and scenic hills.
