Etrex 10 grade function

Why does the E10 (model about 5 -6 year old) only show a grade when descending, and not when ascending?

....after the `tarte de pommes`, and  fortified by a couple of shots of limoncellos,  I flew up the Col de Bavella whilst thunderstorms rolled around the peaks above

If it's like the E20 it'll stop showing a grade when you are travelling really slow. On a faster uphill it should still show it.
