It means that people with Asperger's Syndrome are notoriously intelligent and manipulate stupid questionnaires.  Of course I like turning bike pedals round and round - what normal person doesn't?

For me the "eyes test" (e.g. Eyes Test (Adult) on https://www.autismresearchcentre.com/arc_tests) was much more useful to identify how my mind works.

Surely you like cycling - you don't get pleasure or satisfaction from simply rotating pedals. Not the same thing at all.

So I came out at 159. I *think* I am pretty good with people. Circumscribed interests, for sure. Clumsy, yeah. Obviously have to copy normal people not to seem weird.

So what. Imagine being in the middle of the bell curve, being excited about shopping and nandos and football. That sounds like deth.

My eldest just scored a 13 on ADOS. Threshold for an autism diagnosis is 10. He's got the whole flappy, fingers in the ears, screaming meltdowny sort of autism. He is beyond awesome, and the best fun. I wish life was easier for him, but he is properly brilliant and I wouldn't wish him any other way. He's got me into learning Python, building robot kits and reading manga. I could not wish for a more thrilling accomplice.

 Social model innit. Life can be harder if you have autistic tendencies/autism/disabilities cos of OTHER people and the environment but it isn't all doom and gloom and there's often positives :)

Hope Eldest gains more resilience to the people, world and all its overloadiness as he gets older so he as more time and energy for doing the fun stuff. I have much sympathy given my physical sensory impairments which manifest very autistically.

Don't worry about it, all Miss S' boyfriends have been terrified of me, I've never figured out why.

Apparently the harder I try to be friendly, the more scared they become, she finds it amusing now.

When my eldest got diagnosed, one of my wife's friends said "oh is that what's wrong with your husband?"  ;D

@barakta - he just needs to find his people. Music clubs seem like a decent refuge. The ones that don't involve singing seem like a safe crowd. The older sister of his mate babysits for us, and describes herself as "an unusual child". She brings him around somewhat unsuitable teenage manga, and invites him along to various music activities. I am hoping he can hang out with them at secondary school.

Heh finding your people is good, that does get easier with time when you work out who not to bother with and care less (if you cared at all) about what others' think of you.  Protectors at secondary school sound good, and the Internet is good at hobby-linked connections *looks around at you funny cyclist weirdos*.

As for Dads scaring boyfriends, that's their job. In my case it was my mum, dad couldn't be arsed beyond a mild "be nice to my child kthx" obchat...

I went and looked at the llink in the OP. (curiosity etc).
Why on earth do they need to know your gender before you take the test, or in fact at all?????

Autism is manifested differently across the genders (on average) due to socialisation at the least and possible biological factors.  This is why it's so under recognised in women.

Yes in part so girls obsessive interests tend to not be seen as such (think pop starts or ponies) and I believe that many mask a lot of symptoms by hyper-social conforming and stuff.  I suspect it's largely sociological and about nurture but maybe there are hormonal differences which affect behaviour too.

Girls and women are more likely to get diagnosed with a range of mental health conditions than autism and I know some late-diagnosed women who say they suspect they never had the psychiatric conditions diagnosed in their earlier lives and once their autism was recognised and they got appropriate support their mental health symptoms improved immeasurably.
