Multiple edge openings

Bit of an odd one. My around year old laptop is super slow to open edge when we use it. I I Ctrl Alt Del and go into task manager the CPU is maxed out. Looking at the big processes it will show that edge is using upto around 30% of CPU but had Edge and then a number around 18 in brackets which i assume means edge is open 18 times. We only have it open once and don't have multiple tabs open and having started the laptop myself know that the edge icon hasn't been clicked numerous times

If I end this task the laptop then works a lot better. Next time qe come to use its got the same issue. Have checked and edge isn't on the start up list

Any suggestions? I do need to clear some memory as well as thats pretty full too.

This could be a poorly performing browser plugin/extension. Try disabling them all and turn them on back on one or a few at a time to try and find the culprit.

Last time I experienced behaviour like this it turned out to be a virus.
